COVID Protocols
Dear Petersburg-Bethel congregation,
Your session elders and others have been in close contact this week regarding COVID-19, (also known as the Coronavirus). In times like these our worries and anxieties can be overwhelming. But it is important to be in a calm frame of mind and to keep a non-anxious posture. There are some precautions we can take to minimize the spreading of germs and protect us from harm’s way. Please keep in mind that this is a fluid situation and we will work hard to make the right decisions on a week by week basis for everyone’s health and safety.
We WILL be having Sunday school and worship this Sunday, March 15th. We ask that anyone in a high-risk category consider staying home, this includes members over the age of 60, those that are immunocompromised, those that have been recently sick, and anyone that has recently traveled outside of the local area.
Please also consider these additional precautions:
Greetings – refrain from shaking hands and hugging or suggest other options such as elbow taps
Hygiene - Try to avoid touching your face with your hands. Cough or sneeze into your elbow or into a tissue. Dispose of all tissues properly. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds often.
Seating – We ask that members in attendance on Sunday try to sit in alternate pews to provide the recommended 3’ social distance.
Illness – If you find that you have been in contact (face-to face) with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 please let the church office know as soon as possible.
In the event that local schools close, we will likely cancel worship services and activities. Instead we will work to come up with a plan to share that Sundays message in a virtual manner. Stay tuned for more information if this becomes necessary.
